The Product:  Nike Lunar Glide +2 (LiveStrong Edition)
By: @theGsayeth (Twitter)

It wasn’t a perfect run yesterday but it was a good test run. I’m glad I made the switch to these new shoes. I’m not sure if I’ve been running on the WRONG pair of shoes the past 6 months, just different. I was wearing some trail shoes (also Nike) but at the time it was the right fit. I was doing most of my running on ice/dirt in the winter time. So the added cushioning and grip was a perfect fit.

The Lunarglide +2 I just picked up is definitely lighter weight and more of a minimalist bare-foot running style of shoe. One major difference I noticed was that I was working foot/leg muscles that normally don’t get as much strain or exercise. This is most likely a result of running in a shoe that has less cushioning and support. But I’m more than okay with this. Once I become accustomed to this type of shoe, my muscles will build up a bit more and this moderate strain will disappear. I’ve taken away cushioning and replaced it with stability and lightness. For the type of runner I am (road) it is what I need in order to increase my speed and distances.

It is a night and day kind of difference. If you’re any kind of regular runner, make sure you keep your shoes in good condition. Most runner’s and running magazines I’ve consulted say that around 500 - 600 kms is as far as you can go on a pair. After that it’s time to invest in something new. And it only makes sense that the shoes you run on - day in and day out will pick up dirt, wear, tear, & decline in quality and comfort.
